I took my baby for a 6 weeks vaccination at Dis-Chem Maponya Mall on 04/11/2019.
My baby received 2 injections and one oral drops.
Only when I went to a local clinic for the baby’s 14 weeks vaccination was I asked why my baby didn’t get his OPV1 oral drops.
I didn’t know he was supposed to receive 2 types of oral drops (OPV1 & RV1)
I went back to Dis-Chem to find out what happened. Firstly, I was told that the Nurse/Sister who helped me on that day is retired. Then I was told that on the day I came for the 6 weeks vaccination, they were out of stock on OPV1 oral drops.
I asked why was I not informed. They claim she forgot to inform me.
I think think act was negligent given the fact that all vaccinations are important for every child. I paid R1100 for a full vaccination. If I knew they were out of stock, I never would have proceeded with to the vaccination, I would have opted to go elsewhere.
This is disappointing and Dis-Chem must take responsibility for their actions.
