Vodacom fibre sales agent opened an order without my permission!! - Consumer Complaint for Vodacom - Head Office

On 20 Jan 2021 a Vodacom fibre sales agent called me with an offer of switching to fibre for our home WiFi. I told him very clearly that I cannot decide it alone and that I wanted some more information in writing first to discuss with the other family member involved. He assured me several times during the call that I am not agreeing to anything right now and that he would just send me the information about the offer. He ended off by saying that someone would call me in a couple of days to ask if I have made a decision. HOWEVER, when the email came, it was an "order confirmation" that said I have now placed an order for the Vodacom fibre to be installed!!!

I was shocked and upset by this, but then I also got an sms that said "to finalise your order, please email a copy of your ID, proof of address and 3-months bank statement to..." This made me think that it is still fine since the order could not be finalised until I had sent these documents in and I NEVER SENT IN ANY DOCUMENTS.

I discussed the matter with the other family member and we evaluated our options. In the end we decided to go with a different option but then today (26 Jan) when I wanted to call Vodacom customer service to make sure the fake order got officially cancelled, RAM Couriers arrived at my house and delivered the router for the fibre!!!

How on earth did the order (1) get opened without my consent and then (2) get executed without me ever sending the confirmation documents? When I called the Vodacom fibre people to complain, to cancel the order and to tell them to come fetch the router again, the lady over the phone informed me that it has happened several times lately that fibre sales people opened orders without customer consent. I find this appalling - why has something not been done about it?

This is completely unacceptable, so now I am making this complaint. The original gentleman who called me (and who BLATANTLY LIED to me about sending me information only) never gave me a reference number of the call and I neglected to write down his name. This is such a shame because he should either be fired or at least face serious consequences!!!

Maybe you can track down who it was that called me?
